How to read a property's facing direction (坐向)
Orientation — a home's sitting and facing direction — is one of the first things traditional feng shui establishes. Here is what it means and how it is determined.
What 'sitting' and 'facing' mean
In traditional feng shui a home has a sitting direction (the back it rests against) and a facing direction (the front it looks out to). The facing direction is usually taken from the main entrance or the principal open outlook, and the sitting direction is opposite it.
Why it is established first
Many traditional readings depend on the orientation axis, so it is established before anything else. A small error in the facing direction shifts the whole analysis, which is why it is read carefully from the building's true alignment rather than guessed.
How DaoShu Energy determines it
DaoShu Energy establishes the orientation axis from the address, maps, and the floor plan together, rather than from any single source. You can learn more on the how-it-works page.
