A feng shui checklist before buying a home

A short, plain-language list of what traditional feng shui looks at around and inside a property — useful as one perspective among the many factors buyers weigh.

Around the property

Look at how roads and water approach the home: does a road point straight at it (Road Rush), or does a curve turn its back on it (Reverse Bow)? Note any sharp building corners aimed at the home, and tall poles directly in front of the entrance.

Inside the home

Stand at the front door and look in: can you see straight through to a back door or window (Through Hall)? Check whether a staircase, kitchen, or bathroom sits at the centre of the plan, and whether a kitchen and bathroom share a wall.

Keep it in perspective

This is a cultural-reference perspective, not the only factor in a home. Weigh it alongside location, condition, budget, and everything else that matters to you.
